The Western Connecticut Leadership (WCL) mission is to provide participants with a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the issues and needs in Western Connecticut and to encourage the use of their skills in bettering the community. WCL does not raise funds for other organizations, nor does it support specific community issues.
The following policies have been established to ensure a fair and positive experience for all WCL participants:
Interaction with Speakers and Peers: WCL is non-political and does not take positions on issues. Rather, we seek to objectively educate participants on the pros and cons of a wide range of topics that are important to our community and encourage open dialogue during each session. Participants are expected to be respectful of their program peers, guest speakers, and staff.
Dress: Business casual attire is expected, unless otherwise noted on the schedule.
Attendance: Your sincere commitment to the program is essential to create an outstanding learning experience for all. Class members are strongly encouraged to attend each of the 9 sessions. Click here to see information about this year’s program. If unforeseeable events prevent you from attending a session, please notify Tricia Poirier () or (203) 753-1315. Participants are able to make up missed sessions during the next fall program (program dates for 2019 have not yet been decided.)
Tuition Payment: WCL requires a nonrefundable $100 deposit to secure your placement in the 2018 program. The remaining tuition payment of $550 will be required prior to starting the program in September. Should you pay your tuition and subsequently need to withdraw from the program, please contact the Connecticut Community Foundation staff to discuss your situation and determine the appropriate next steps. We will consider refunding tuition payment on a case by case basis. If you defer your participation until the next program year, you may request your tuition be held to guarantee your place in the following year’s class.
